A gentleman had stopped in the middle of the alley way as he was approaching the Cattle Country stall at Beef 09. His face was that of shock but it quickly turned to delight – his grin was as big as Beef 09 its self! A woman then pointed to a poster we had displayed and said, “look Dad, that’s you on that poster!”
What I am describing is Eric Nobbs from Moura, Queensland, seeing the larger than life poster of himself. Eric was featured in the summer 2006 edition of Cattle Country Magazine.
As the new owner of the magazine, I had no idea that Eric was such an industry celebrity! Everyone that dropped by our stand had their own special story about Eric – lots of old friends, workmates, clients etc. My favourite was hearing from a neighbour about how Eric had only given up riding a horse at the 12 months ago at the age of 92!
His daughter, Linda, sent me this picture with a note saying thanks for displaying the poster because her Dad was so excited to see the life size picture of himself. The pleasure was ours to see this true gentleman’s huge grin!
